Menes Project
For Social studies and for The Reading Workshop we had to write a post about someone from Menes, Hatsheupt, Sargon, Khufu, Ahmose and Hammurabi. For my report I picked Menes.
Menes belongs to the river civilization the Nile which is located in Egypt. If you do not know much about the Nile river then I will tell you. The Nile flooded every year from June to September. The Nile river is located in Africa near the Nile Delta. Egypt is located in Africa at the almost very top of Africa
Menes was the first Pharaoh of the first dynasty and who brought Upper and Lower Egypt together after he defeated the Pharaoh of Lower Egypt. To show his victory Menes wore a double crown.
Menes great accomplishment was building the Memphis Dam. Memphis was the capital of Egypt in Menes time and it was a dam that completely surrounded Memphis to protect it from the flooding of the Nile. Menes other great accomplishment was uniting Upper and Lower Egypt. Menes civilization was historic.
